What is  Doulaville?

Doulaville Seattle is a collective of doulas, family educators and birth professionals who partner to bring comprehensive resources and support to area families as they welcome a new baby into their home. We attend births in hospitals, birth centers and homes and then provide in home postpartum support. Servering Marysville to Olympia, WA.

Why hire Doulaville?

Most families hiring a doula employ us to attend their birth so they can benefit from the emotional and physical support and guidance of a trained birth coach. The benefits of doulas are well documented in research, but we also provide support and classes to expecting families through pregnancy and postpartum. Morning sickness and bedrest can be really challenging experiences but hiring a doula to come to your home to take care of you and your needs can made a world of difference. Adjusting to a new baby is a big change for anyone so hiring a postpartum doula can help you get the help you need with older children, housework and breastfeeding that will help you have a happy babymoon. Our childbirth and family education classes also help you get the knowledge and skills you will need as you become a parent

Doulaville Seattle

Doulaville works with families from the moment they decide to start trying for a baby and that process, with all of its ups and downs, deserves to be captured in photos documenting the transformation that families experience when they welcome a new baby into the world.

Starting with education, information, resources and support with the challenges of conception, whether that is learning how to track fertility signs or undergoing IVF and other fertility treatments, our doulas can share their knowledge to help make the process easier and give you the emotional support and understanding you deserve every step of the way.

I kind of have to laugh when I think about how many pairs of  Huggalugs I have, I’m going to guess that I have about 50 maybe more, some I have a set for little kids and big kids. These are great for photo shoots of course or to dress up a pair of shorts, skirt or a dress. And for those new crawler, it protect their little knees. If you really want to rock these wear them on your arms. They now have little shows and pettiskirt and hat too!

Oh-so-practical and totally adorable, Huggalugs will make you radiate smiles. The softest, stretchiest legwarmers (and armwarmers) in babyland miraculously grow with tiny tots from infancy through crawling to toddlerhood and beyond.

Because they’re easy-on and easy-off, Huggalugs are always ready for changes in the weather, and independent types can even learn to dress themselves! Our designs are ready to travel and keep kids looking cute all year round.

Discover some joy and something a little bit different with Huggalugs! Check them out http://www.huggalugs.com/ facebook https://www.facebook.com/#!/Huggalugs

Talk about a outdoors men. I think I found him!
I totally adore this little guy and his  family, and was honored to do ANOTHER portrait session for them.
I’am not sure, this makes 6 or 7, I don’t know I have lost track. LOL

ENJOY~ Jen

So I have been looking for the last 2 1/2 3 years for frames to use in my studio. There are several companies and some really cute frames, though most are just not really my style. I like more vintage, rustic and shabby/farm chic kinds of style for my studio. With no such luck on finding a company to provide exactly what I was looking for, I went on a hunt and found a tutorial. I was VERY pleased with the out come and plan to do bunch more for my studio walls.

Please bare with me, I have never written up a tutorial before. If you have questions, feel free to ask. I will do my best to answer them. :)

Here we go….

Your supply list.

1. wood picture frame, mine came from the Goodwill it was $4-$7.

2. drop cloth or I used a plastic trash bag.

3. 2-3 colors of paint. I used satin for the first 2 colors and then a semi gloss for the last coat. I used paint I had on hand.

4. paint brush. I used a SUPER cheap brush.  {this was the only item I had to purchase}

5.  sand paper fine and medium.

6. candle again, I used what I had on hand, so it was a PartyLite votive.

My frame was stained, but did not have a shinning coat/gloss, so I was good to go. But if your frames does have a gloss on it, you will need to give it a rough sanding, so the paint will stick to the frame.

I started with a quick coat of grey. Let it dry completely 30 minutes. Of that will depend on the weather, but I bet it’s save to say with the heat everyone is having, that 30 minutes is perfect.

Now you will take your candle and generously rub it on the edges, corners and anywhere you would see normal ware over the years.
Give it your second coat of paint with your second paint color. You can stop at the second coat of paint if you with, or proceed on to the third.

Be sure to let the second coat of paint dry thoroughly. I took a couple of paper towels started rubbing where I applied the candle wax, to expose the first coat of paint.. I then took the fine grit sand paper and got any that was in the cracks or groves. Then I wiped down the frame with a paper towel to make sure all all the wax and loose paint was gone.

Now apply the second application of wax, over the exposed paint {in my case the exposed paint is grey and I also rubbed a little on to the red, to over lap for a lack of better words.

Now put your third and final coast of paint. I used white. I also painted the third coat a little nicer then the first two coats.

Once again let it dry and repeat the paper towel process {you can use on sand paper if you prefer} to expose the the second coat of paint. Wipe down the frame and presto you have yourself a new old frame.

Ending Results

I have no idea how I will use this frame, but for the time being here are some uses I have found for it.

I hope you ENJOYED!

I just love this sizing comparison guide. Is bigger better? Yes, in most cases.

My two favorites size from this display guide are the 16×24 and the 24×36.
Anyways I just wanted to share, and give you a idea of of comparison from a 8×10 and a lets say 16×24 portrait hanging on your wall.

I know which size I rather have.

I hope this helps.

Love these these little dapper dudes, all dressed up in their daddy’s shirts, ties, shoes and the hat. The black hat is very special it’s their GREAT GREAT Grandfather’s hat.

Happy Birthday to this little Angelface! The day of the shoot was Miss C’s 4th birthday. She was full of spunk and energy.

She certainly had her own ideas on a few poses. She jumped right in and knew how this pillow should be and were she wanted that umbrella and how she wanted to sit even. I think I might need her as a assistant. LOL Thank you Ali and Miss C for letting share your special with you.
